Fashion Roundup: 3 Best and 3 Worst Looks from the LC Lauren Conrad Maternity Collection for Kohl's

Other than a food baby, I've yet to know the trials and tribulations of dressing a burgeoning pregnancy belly. While I'll admit that it seems very hard to look uber-cute while sporting cankles, extra water weight and chafing thighs, Lauren Conrad ain't scurred of taking on the daunting challenge of pleasing pregnancy women without including free mint ice cream topped with Doritos. If you're currently growing a human--first, congratulations--that seems like a lot of work. Secondly, you'll probably want to look crazy cute for all that baby loot shopping at the Target. In which case, you'll need some maternity threads.

Here are the 3 Best and 3 Worst Looks from the LC Lauren Conrad Maternity Collection for Kohl's:

1. Off-the-Shoulder Sheath Dress, $41.99

A simple pink bodycon dress with 3/4 sleeves looks fresh and modern for the woman with a stork delivery on the way. Comfy jersey fabric and a range of sizes makes this chic enough for work, play or lounging at home. No need to Netflix and Chill--been there, done that.
p.s. how cute does LC look in her own creation? answer: scute

2. Chambray Off-the-Shoulder Dress, $43.99
While a lot of ruffles and a bunch of layers could go very wrong for a woman already dealing with spare cellulite and new neck rolls, this farmer-girl frock is sweet and would totally work with a pair of lace up flats or sandals for summer errands and excursions. While the off-the-shoulder style is a bit suggestive for a mama to be, it's totally trendy and the stomach cinching belt is nice for creating curves.

3. Lace Inset Tee, $32.99
A terra cotta top is totally on point for a member of the future mommy squad. Demure enough for daytime, but sophisticated enough for evening, this easy throw-it-on-and-forget-about-it tee with a hint of lace will work with belly breathing maternity pull-on pants or a pair of forgiving skinny jeans.

1. Smocked Off-the-Shoulder Top, $32.99
This reminds me of something you'd find in the discount bin at Plato's Closet. A bit hippie dippie mixed with flower child flair, this tent-like top is not particularly pretty or polished. The bell sleeves are especially disconcerting like is this woman auditioning for some Shakespearean play at her local community theater about a scorned pregnant woman?

2. Cold-Shoulder Lace Top, $32.99
On Project Runway, this top would receive demerits for the fact that it doesn't really seem to belong or have any congruence with the rest of the frilly, flirty and floaty items in the LC Maternity Collection. Black, lace and almost goth, this heavy pleated lace top is trying to be fancy but looks like an awkward attempt at evening wear in a shirt.

3. Pleated Fit & Flare Dress, $43.99
Another loud, busy casual cap sleeve dress. Just what every mama-to-be wants is to showoff her extra hormonal-issued arm flab. This flowery frock looks old-fashioned and is far too heavy on the big blossoms. Perhaps this dress would work for church or a serious religious occasion--other than that, it's too dowdy and decorated. To be fair, LC pulls off this look with aplomb; she should reserve her worship for the photoshop gods.
