Fashion Roundup: 3 Best and 3 Worst Looks from Lauren Conrad's Beach Collection for Kohl's

While these days Lauren Conrad might be looking more into stretch jeans and nursing bras rather than bikinis, she still debuted her eponymous beach line for Kohl's just in time for summer. The Beach Collection is relatively small and includes a few select swimwear pieces, cover-ups and sandals. Nothing in the collection has real wow factor--mostly the vibe is a bit retro with a 70s cabana-resort feel. Modest and mod, the collection boasts one-pieces along with high-waisted bikini bottoms and crochet cover-ups. While most women would not look particularly stellar in fussy maxis or mom-jean bottom briefs, there are a few select gems in the line, namely the slip-on sandals.

Here are the 3 Best and 3 Worst Looks from Lauren Conrad's Beach Collection:

1. LC Lauren Conrad Beach Shop Women's Gladiator Sandals, $49.99
Perfect for hanging out at a poolside party or attending that summer rock fest in the desert, these tassel lace-up sandals are a nice neutral shade that makes them ideal for pairing with a colorful tie-dye or long floral dress.

2. LC Lauren Conrad Beach Shop Oversized Aviator Sunglasses, $17.99
A rose-gold pair of shades is perfect avoiding squinting during those long beach days and summer road trips. Interestingly, these sunnies are recommended for square face shapes.

3. LC Lauren Conrad Beach Shop Scalloped One-Piece, $50.99
While this swimsuit might be bordering on being over-priced, it still earns marks for its practicality and would definitely work for prancing around the pool bar and playing beach volleyball all day long. The stripes, silhouette and style might not flatter all body types but the vintage vibes are enough to create a fun beachwear statement. Be forewarned of cup spillage with the scalloped top.

1. LC Lauren Conrad Beach Shop High-Waist Brief Bottoms, $24.99
While these diaper-esque old man underwear style bottoms might look OK-ish on the model, odds are that regular girls and gals will not look so hot in these granny panties. The patterns are meant to be 'beach bungalow in the 70s' but they also struggle to make the grade as the tropical palm and ondive leaves look a bit like bad wallpaper print.

2. LC Lauren Conrad Beach Shop Fringe French Terry Shorts, $32.99
While the concept of these shorts might be cute (c'mon who doesn't love tassels and fringe, right?!), the execution is lacking. The weird sweater-like terry material feels heavy and the additional embellishments and tie look childish and awkward. The overall style feels very kitchen--like as in tablecloth or weird doily.

3. LC Lauren Conrad Beach Shop Envelope-Hem Capri Pants, $39.99
These Arabian nights crinkle beach pants are an epic fail. I don't picture the Laguna Beach star sporting these crazy pants to any fashionable function unless her current closet was burned to a crisp or ransacked. Oh, and the drawstring tie with pom poms still doesn't save this disaster, nice try Lauren.
